2010 to 2011

In another 9 hours, 2010 is coming to an end. This year has been a really exciting & eventful year. "Upgraded" from a Miss to a Mrs in 2010, became a new home owner in 2010, reaching several peaks at work.....

Believed that 2011 will be a GREAT year. Though there are many new changes, these changes are necessary. My wish for the new year is SIMPLE, just good health, good fortune, good year ahead for all my family and frens....

Really excited about the new year.... more challenges, more learning, more mature hopefully! Gone is a great 2010, Coming is a FANTASTIC 2011! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

woooah.... my last entry is in aug?? tat's like super long time ago... hahhaa... too busy for the past few months.... finally got MARRIED on 12 Sept 2010.... soooo sooo sooo glad everything went well and had a really memorable day tat day.....

now staying in the new home... had 3 housewarmings already... gg to have more now and then... cos i really love crowd.. hehe.... now there is my own home i can invite ppl any time i like... hehe!

Busy Busy Busy Jul

It has been a busy busy Jul! Was busy with the renovation of the house... almost every weekend we were there painting, cleaning and clearing stuff... Finally managed to 入伙 on National Day morning... considered move in liao....

The toilets are not done yet, so is the kitchen sliding door. The bed should be ready soon, then can get the ppl to deliver the mattress. The rest of the electric equipments should be here soon.... I think we should be able to get the house ready by end of Aug =) Keeping fingers crossed....

We have also managed to send out the invitations to our frens and relatives before National Day... the table arrangements are really a headache... hopefully there are no more last min changes... will be meeting Samuel on Friday to confirm the banquet stuff...

Busy Busy Weekend before School reopens

It was a busy weekend before school reopens... On Sat went down to the printing shop in Ubi to settle the printing for the inserts...hopefully we can settle the invitation cards by end of Jul.

Then we went down to Kallang CC to meet Ms Soh who will be our solemniser... she is really a sweet lady... full of feelings and emotions... She is a retired teacher but is still currently teaching in Bowen Sec... great to have met her... and glad to have been recommended by Meifen to her!

We then headed down to Causeway Pt to collect the rings... Soo Kee is really quite efficient... they told us that they will need till end of Jul to complete the rings... but they were already ready before Jul... so fast! Anyway they gave us the teddy ring pillow as free gift... still havent decided whether to use it for the actual day... as we have another ring pillow from a fren...

On Sunday, we went to confirm the white Beetle rental for the wedding car... Darius the owner is a nice chap... booked the Beetle for 2 days cos we will be at Sentosa, unable to return the car on time... will be thinking how to dress up the car... maybe peach ribbons will match it... not too sure....

Such a long time since I have last posted.... well... well... June hols just flew passed. Now back in school for P6 intensive programme...

Had finished the pre-wedding photoshoot last Sat... Vincent was really funny and I think Vivi did a great job for the make up... will be looking and choosing the photos next week... hopefully they turned out well... Thanks to sis for accompanying us the whole day that day too... really appreciated her help....

Busy March & New Home Finally!

March is really a busy month with so many things happening in school and also getting preparations on the wedding. I was saying in the previous entry that I got the sisters down to help select the gowns... Glad that they liked the choices I have made and managed to settle on 1 AD gown, 1 evening gown and 2 outdoor gowns... the shoot will be in June... so till have to continue to stay trim... haha!

Another great news! Finally, I got my OWN home! To keep the long story short, after viewing the many many flats and trying to apply for all the BTOs, we settled for a 8 yr old condo unit (980sqft) 2 bedrooms, for $613k. The place is called Euphony Gardens which is just off Sembawang Road. It's a nice place and the surrounding is great too! I guess the only minus point is the location.... It's not very convenient... have to change bus from Yishun MRT.

I guess the price is a little steep for some but in such times, it is still within our means. After calculation, we feel that we can afford it and we hope to have our own place so we offered the owner this amt. Have actually regretted not settling early for the Casabalca one the last time before the price shot up. On Sunday, we got the option to purchase... now waiting for the bank to settle the loan and all... Should be getting the key in June... woah! looking forward to it!

I have also settled my AD photographer... he is Vincent Yee. Quite like his works and have booked him for my big day (paid the deposit). His charges are also reasonable... Quite a charming chap. Just hope he is able to capture all the special moments that day! A fruitful March... wondering how's April??

A Busy Busy Term 2...

Finally managed to complete the gown selection... thanks to the ladies who were there with me... they gave me a very clear direction on what dress to choose... so it was relatively smooth and fast! Great job! Haha!

Now in the mist of looking for house... with this terrible market... i think the hope is not too high... haiz.... also need to settle on AD photographer soon... so have been trying to look at the different portfolios of the photographer to decide on one... seems like there are more and more things to do....

Work is also stacking up... haiz...there are observations to be carried out and so much planning to do... just hope all will be fine.... keeping fingers crossed!

Eating eating eating...

Haven't been eating good food for some time... hahah cos on a diet due to the gown fitting... so on Friday when I went to eat steamboat buffet at Pomo with Miao's colleagues... it was a break me haha! Then we headed for Cathay's Ben and Jerry for ice cream... took abit cos cannot resist ice creams... haha!

Sat went to Zhang's home to do the photo montage... we realised that it was relatively simple but as we are not too sure of the applications, we too more time... it was halfway done so I guess we need to arrange to go back to continue with the project... quite fun... cos it's OUR project.... hehe!

Sunday was at Miao's house for the whole afternoon... Miao Ma and Dad made braised duck and roasted pork... so had to eat a lot for dinner that night... had a filling dinner... so it was a weekend of food food food...

Wedding Gown 1st Appointment

CNY came and went... during the new year, I was sooo busy... visiting the different aunts and uncles... photos are all uploaded on Facebook... so not going to do so here.... TIme really flies... Feb is already coming to an end....

Yesterday, went to Whitelink for my 1st appointment... Reached there at 4pm with Miao... then ended up trying all the different gowns... Managed to shortlist 4 actual day wedding gown, 3 evening gown and 2 outdoor gowns... Will be going back in March with more ladies to confirm the gowns....

Not sure about some of the details, I guess I got to check with Wendy (my wedding coordinator) on the queries... It's quite an experience... glad to have done the first cut selection with Miao only... cos I think it will really be very confusing with too many input from other people... hope the ladies like the gowns that I have chosen... then just help me pick one out of those gowns.... haha!

Long time no See!

WoooH! It has been a long time since I blogged... Last entry was in Oct?? Wat happened to me in Nov, Dec and Jan? Hmm... too busy clearing work, enjoying the hols and getting ready wedding stuff...

Dec went to Brisbane with Miao for holiday! It was fun... free and easy... first time experiencing driving on our own... COOL! Then we were also busy looking for house... then managed to settle the banquet venue and the wedding studio....

This year is a new year... with a new P.... some things a different, so school life is very busy! This year teaching P3 and P6... so I guess it will be another challenging year to push the P6 to sec schools haha! I hope I am able to do it! Now I am just looking forward to CNY... thou abit sian that I am the Emcee again... but just glad to have some time to gather and spend time with family!

Trying to get the P4 ready for exams and getting the P6 engaged

PSLE is over for the P6 hence for classes with them I am getting them to do CME. They are not very interested... only interested in chatting with their frens.. I guess I really need to find something for them to be engaged in...

As for the P4, lessons are also quite boring as we are doing revision now... Going through activities in the newspapers they subscribe to and also getting them to read and do, read more and do more....

Next week is the SA2 exams. After that will be a busy busy period for teachers... with marking to do... P1 and Prize Presenation Ceremony all coming together! ARGH!! Gambatte! It's the last phase.... hang in there!

PSLE is coming!

Tomorrow is PSLE.... I really wish my pupils will do their best... I hope they will be able to clear the exams with flying colours and get into the secondary school of their dreams. Have asked them before what are their dream schools but most of them have no target at all. It's rather sad to know that they have no aim... without an aim, it's difficult to strive to do well... but anyway... most pupils have work hard over this year... wishing them all the best!=)

September Come and Went... It's October already!

September came and went! Time really flies. Children's Day was yesterday... had one day of holiday... spent time at home sleeping like nobody's business after taking the cough medicine...then went for dinner and movie and AMK Hub with Miao... He wanted to watch "Surrogate"... not a bad show but too chim for me... din really understand some parts of the movie.

Anyway on Wed we had 3-in-1 celebrations for the children - Deeparaya-cum-Children's Day concert... As usual I bought and wrapped the gifts for the children... hope they liked them! Especially for the P6 pupils, I typed individualised notes for them... really hope it encourages them for the upcoming PSLE (it starts next Wednesday!)

October will be a busy month too... SA2 exams are coming... having observation by the P... PSLE marking... etc...I am sure it will be month that flies pass too! Whoosh! October here we come!

NJRC is finally over! We have spent sooo much time together with the trainer Amanda and kids just for this day! The kids did fabulously! They really deserved it! I was screaming and screaming when they called our school name! Cannot believe that we have beaten soo many other good schools to clinch the silver award for Best Robot Performance Award! That's like a dream come true! Great job to Team B who went into finals and get the award. Team A, you have worked equally hard and you are great too! You both are important to us! Fantastic Job done!

He Proposed on my Birthday!

It's my 27th birthday yesterday... went to school in the morning for CCA. Then in the afternoon went to watch "Proposal" at Marina Sq. Before that we had dessert... my fav Brownie! Hhaha....After movie, Miao and I headed to ECP for my surprise present.

Miao stuck about 150 sparklers into the sand forming "Will U Marry Me" and tried to light all the sparklers at once. But it failed due to the strong wind. In the end I was helping him light up the sparklers, which was quite fun! Haha! I din manage to figure the words out except for the "U" haha...

Anyway, he popped the question when all the sparklers light up and burning. It was sweet when he told me his orignial plan and all the planning that went back to almost 3 months ago... when he was searching for the ring... the ring was also specially chosen and it was beautiful.

Will be searching for our home first... and maybe we will get married in 2011. See how la...haha!

On Sunday, my family celebrated birthday at Bishan Loft. It was a pool side party... hehe fun cos I really love the feeling of such family gathering... really felt loved by everybody this birthday... Muack everybody!

National Day Long Weekend... Fun!

This National Day holiday is indeed enjoyable with many activities going on from Friday till Monday! Wooah! Friday night was sooo fun... cos I went to meet up with my Primary school frens whom I have not seen since 12 years old! Tat's like 15 yrs manz! We met at ECP Kenny Rogers... about 15 of us appeared... all looked pretty much the same except for Tenny who became skinnier... and Nienhan who became shuai-er... hahah... Only have the photos of the girls, with a sneaky Dom at the back... the rest of the photos will have to wait for Dom to upload...

After dinner, we went over to Kelvin's home for a long chatting and updating session... His home is so huge... his balcony is spacious enough to put all of us there... fantastic! We chatted till almost 2pm... so happy to see everybody alive and kicking... haha and also doing well in their workfields... looking forward to the next outing already!

Sat was spent at Cindy and Alex new home at Tamp. It was a beautiful sweet home... with simple decorations that belong to just them... We had fun eating steamboat for the first time after the countless bbq that we have and also playing the games that Weihao brought... It's fun just to hang out with them....

Sunday was National Day proper... went over to Aunt Kim and Uncle Ellil's home for MAHJIONG! haha... Zhang, Luo, Miao and I played from 6 plus till almost 2 plus... won only $2 but it was a good learning experience for me... hehe... totally addictive!

Monday decided to go over to ION as I have not been there since it opened... there are soo many people there! Madness! Anyway after walking ard, Miao and I went to watch "UP" at Cathay Cineplex... It's really a great show... funny and touching! Nice!

The long weekend is over... haiz... the next 2 weeks will be a really busy week with exam and all just around the corner... will be busy in school preparing the pupils for the exam and also to the school's NE Carnival... 真是有得忙了！

Started reading again, this time Chinese books

Being a Chinese teacher, many will assume I love to read Chinese books. You are wrong! I grew up reading English story books and till now I read English papers for the news... and only when my dear mom forces me, would I read the Chinese papers. My explantion would be I can never 略读 in Chinese, only 详读，which make reading alot more difficult.

Always know that Kangni owns many many Chinese books... so decided to borrow a few from her to read, in my attempt to brush up my language. The 2 books she lent me were quite interesting. I have finished reading one and the other is still in progress.

The first book is entitled 《爱原来可以如此豁达》. It is written by this Chinese writer 刘墉. He writes about relationships - about love, about marriage, about family and about life. There was one chapter on protecting oneself first before others. To many, someone who protects himself first is considered as selfish... that's what I used to think.　But a sentence in his book make me ponder over my opinion. He wrote:"保自己不是牺牲，是保护自己，到关键时刻，做最有价值的牺牲与奉献" It's soo true! In many cases, courageous people will just dive their heads into the matter and try to save everybody from danger.. but they often forget if they have the ability to do so, if they are able to save them without endangering himself. So frequently, the person who wants to save the drowning person is himself not a strong swimmer, as a result both die... isn't that a fruitless "rescue"?

The second book, I am still in progress. It's entitled "我的青春呐！" by a doctor writer 欧阳林. This book is alot funnier due to his writing style. Though I have slight difficulties in reading the 繁体字, but his style is more relaxed. He has interesting insights on little things that happened to him during his childhood and schooling days... Having been through school, though we are from different cultures, I can still relate to those instances.

There was a chapter where he wrote his obsession over beauty when he was younger. He wanted beautiful clothes, trendy hairstyles, spects desgins etc. But after experiencing life, growing up and seeing many many beautiful things, he realised that to be beautiful is to be confident. He wrote :" 看过了人生，看过了成长，看尽了繁华美丽，却仍然坚持，美丽人生，最先来自因自信而美丽的自己"

He wrote another chapter on friendship (in school). I especially like the last part as I have been wondering lately why I am not able to keep in contact with all my friends from school. I will think of them when I see youngsters hanging out in huge groups and I missed those outings that we have when we are younger. But instead of doing sth about it, I will just lament that busy worklife has seperated us. I know I need to make the extra effort but maybe I am just lazy. Actually his words are a comfort to me. He wrote:" 朋友只能丰富生命中的某一个片段，但只要曾经拥有，在记忆的洪流中，它其实已经天长地久了"

I treasure the friendship that I built with every single ppl in my life. We might be just acquintants but as least we know each other. Our friends might more be with us now... but at least in my memory, they will always be there... during those periods where I needed them and they needed me....

A Simple 7th Anniversary Celebration

As Miao is going for reservist this week, we celebrated our 7th anniversary early on Sunday. It was very simple, just went Ecp to blade then have dinner. I made Miao a picture collage. Spent quite alot of time to do that cos I am not very good in designing, cutting and all that...

Miao bought me a make-up set from Clinque... which came with a white pouch. It is nice la... but not very practical cos I hardly use it. Anyway I told him we will celebrate again... cos I think we should do more than just having dinner... so we will plan again... hahaha!

School is well

First week of school flew past very quickly... we were all busy with prevention of H1N1.... lots of temperature taking... timetable also slightly affected due to the scehdule of temparature taking...

Tomorrow when we are back in school, staff will be split up into different rooms for social distancing... so we will no longer be in the same staff room... it's rather troublesome... since alot of things are still on our respectives desks... but i guess its important to do that so that school will still be functioning if someone is down with the flu... we need to do all we can... Bo bianz!

Can't believe the June Hols is over!

This Jun hols was packed with meetings, preparations to be done for H1N1 if school reopens and AR. Had about 1 week plus of break only... though short but still better than nothing...

Went to the zoo with Miao... had quite abit of fun there getting to know the animals. Had a few outings with family memebers, cousins, NIE frens, JC frens just to catch up one another...

Tomorrow is Day 1 of school... will be really busy doing all the precautions towards H1N1.... hope all will go well... keeping fingers crossed!

Cousins Outing

On Sunday, had the biggest Cousins outing ever! Everybody was there except for little Claire... too young to go la! This time Luo came back for good and the kids had finished their exams, so decided to bring all of them to Settler's Cafe for GAMES! For the kids, its their first time there... so they were rather exciting...

We played many games... loved the Animal game the most... Can't really explain the game now.... it's a simple game but its really FUN.... I even laughed till I tear! Played from 2pm all the way to 6pm... totally entertaining! Had dinner and dessert at Central and Chinatown Point respectively then finally ended the day full of laughter and jokes... happy to have such closely knitted family! Looking forward to more of such gathering this holidays since everyone is "stuck" in Singapore! hehe

Still remember some time last year we went to Miss Clarity to celebrate Lingwei's 21st birthday. We even did a special collage for her.... 1 year has passed already!!! Last Sat we celebrated LW's 22nd birthday at J8 Cafe Cartel... quite boliao... took many pictures (with Zhen's weird toot specs and Ronald McDonald) trying to kill the waiting time... A Busy Busy April

Wat a busy month!!! So busy until I totally forgot to update my blog.... wooah!

With the exams here and the H1N1 flu in the air... Last 2 weeks of April was filled with buzz.... In school everybody was sooo stressed... having to prepare the pupils for the exams which was especially early (week 7) Then in May, came the news of H1N1 flu which was sooo contagious.... made all of us in school having to take temperature twice a day. This made everybody high strung and busy but definitely worth the effort cos I totally believe in "prevention than cure". Better be safe than sorry, right?

Though it has been a busy month of work... there were also happy occasions, like

Dim sum lunch gathering with Cedar sisters (only with Sijie, Peixin, Peiling and Bizhen. Jas, Xin and Minyann cannot make it, haiz too bad)
Celebrations of Jia's birthday at Sakae
Dinner date with Gwen and Min (missed the chatting/gossiping...hahha)
Family afternoon tea and dinner with aunts and uncle at Pasir Ris
Willie and Pen's fabulous wedding

Beginning of this year, my new year's resolution is to work hard during the weekdays and try not to touch work on weekends... hmm seems like I have made it. Hope to carry on like tat, cos at least after a break during weekends I am able to work hard during the weekdays!

So fast May is here... though the remaining months of 2009 will be BUSIER and BUSIER, Yucks! But nvm la... just take one thing at a time... and I am sure I will be able to go through all of them... Jiayou! Jiayou! Jiayou! [my simple way of encouraging myself] haha!

The LONG WEEKEND is finally here.. not sure why but this week I am really very tired... have been looking forward to this week for a long long time....

Thinking of going to cut hair later today after class... but have to go all the way to Toa Payoh... a bit tired.... see how la!

Tomorrow will be going for our first mega family walkaton at MacRitchie Reservoir.... will be there by 7am to do the walk... hahah.... later tomorrow night will be meeting hall frens for dinner at Curry Favour... hmm should be enjoyable thou I think the curry rice there is quite expensive.... nvm la its the company that matters!

Sat should be gg for chocolate buffet also with hall frens... hmmm thou very sinful but also looking forward to it... not sure how Miao will fare but he's not really a chocolate person haha... so just there to show face....

Sunday will be a day to rest and not do anything... nursing the Monday blues... haiz... better dun think now... enjoy the long weekend first! *grinz*

1st Week almost over!

Tomorrow is the last day of the first week of Term 2... sooo fast. This week is packed with lesson observations for myself and also for my trainee. While preparing of my own lesson observation with VP and RO, I was also helping my trainee prepare for hers. Finally it's over today... so she can take a little break before her next observation....

My observation went quite well... details of whether I did good will be revealed soon... but both VP and RO are really busy... so we will arrange again =)

I am working hard with my Primary 6 pupils... and I'm glad to see them learning well... deep in my heart they are always special as they are my very first batch of P6! I really hope they can make it, getting results that they wish for and have a great future... not for me... but for themselves...

March Holidays 2009

March Holidays came and gone... today is the last day of the holiday... had a relatively good rest this holiday... went to Sentosa with my cousins for an afternoon of sand, sea and sun... finished a presentation at TN... had an enjoyable staff retreat with my colleagues.... Many days simply stayed at home relaxed... Term 2 starting really soon... it will be a busy term... busy but fast term!

Sat went to Anthony's home for his house warming... it was quite funny as the Mayflower people were trying to recall the seating arrangement of their Sec 4 class. And with sooo many people there, they were still unable to remember all the people... haha! After that we went for ktv... Kbox had K dinner... it was quite expensive but I guess since most can make it... we just went ahead with it... It was fun to have known this group of friends. Looking forward to more outings with them *grin*

Friday we went all the way to Tiong Bahru to eat zi cha to celebrate Dad's bday... it was the zi cha that has really nice sweet sour pork and toufu... but when the food came after we ordered, we realised that the boss has changed and the food is different and the taste is not as good.... haiz... wasted trip there and the worst thing is Mom, Dad and CK din have a chance to taste the good zi cha before it is gone....

Today for Vday, Miao booked Dan Ryans for dinner at 7pm. Before that we decided to play a game - to look for gifts for each other since we haven't bought anything yet. We gave each other 1 hour and 45 mins to buy a gift. I bought Miao a pair of berms, t-shirt from urbanmale and polo T from Far East. Miao wanted to give me a surprise and said only bought me a tiny bear from Watson... but actually there was a citigems diamond necklace round the bear... haha! so funny.. before he can say his planned story... the necklace fell out... and I found out alr... haha! Aiyah forgot to take a picture of the gifts... haiz nvm... managed to take the delicious food thou =)

A Rush and Busy Munar New Year

This year's new year is only for 2 days. Too short to really enjoy... eveybody is rushing about... trying to visit as many houses as possible during the 2 days. We also ended up eating... gambling... eating again... get some ang pao... then the 2 days ended. Still glad to be able to meet up with my relatives, aunts, uncles, cousins and all... Have plans for the coming weekend already... so will be taking more pics :)

My Family's Event of the Year

The event of the year was finally here! Took leave from school on 15th Jan and woke up at 2 plus in the morning to get ready as Sis has to go over to Woodlands before 6am. As time was limited, we din have much time to play games with Hanjie but it was still funny to see him with the wig, shrek ears, bikini and the rafia skirt... hehe! He was supposed to dance and sing 月亮代表我的心. Just before he entered the room, he had to sign the deed too, promising to fulfil all the long list of things... hahha we will see if they all come true hehehe!

Wedding banquet was at Grand Plaza Hotel... was sent to the reception to take the attendance of the guests... it was quite complicated as there were some relatives that we do not even know how they look like... Luckily Sharon was there to help out... was able to be watch the solemnization ceremony while she was out there...

Was sooo tired by the time I got home... still had to go to school today... so I was really like a zombi. It made me realised that wedding looks interesting and grand but it is really very energy consuming... it also made me realised that if I were ever going to get married, waking up at 2am is definitely out for me.. hahah.... so I will start the say at about 9 plus... hehe...

Glad that Sis's wedding was over and it was quite a success. Yoz Evil twin...have a great honeymoon in Japan! Bon voyage! Nothing to do come back and see us haha!

I welcomed 2009 in 2 different places - dinner at Adrian's new home and countdown at Zhang's place. Everybody has alot of laughter... alot of wishes and alot of hopes for the new year.

In 2009, I will be teaching P4 and P6 Chinese and CME. I will also be teaching P1, P2 and P3 CME... Woooah! Almost a full 孔子 this year. All levels of CME except for P5... wahahah! Anyway it's my first time taking the graduating class... both excited and scared...hope I can contribute to my pupils' good results at the end of the year. 亲爱的 Honesty and Charity... 要加油咯！我们一起加油吧！

In 2009, my evil twin will be getting married and moving to Woodlands. My whole family now are very excited over her BIG day on the 15th... Wishing her a blissful marriage!

In 2009, my ICT project will continue... have to think hard on the AR topic and I will try my very best to make it work... Hehz!

Sisters Xmas Party @ Peiling's Home

This year's Xmas party is at Peiling's home. This afternoon we all went to her home with food and our presents. Peiling's home is really comfortable and nicely decorated. We had a lot of fun eating, talking, exchanging gifts and even watching Peiling's wedding video and Wall-E. It is just nice to laze around and relax! Already planning for Chinese New Year gathering... it will be steamboat with chocolate fondue... hehe as 2 ppl received fondue equipments this yr! haha!

We all attended Zhongyao & Rachel's ROM at Scarlet on Saturday noon. They booked the whole restaurant for their ROM. It was a very sweet affair... with friends and relatives. The food was good... with wine and champagne.... really a luxurious affair! Wishing them happiness... after dating for sooo long... it is finally sweet ending!

Xmas Party at Tampines 08

This year we went to Tampines for the Family Xmas countdown 2008. As usual everybody was there with delicious food and drinks. Uncle Ellil came with the turkey and the rest of us came with Bee Hoon, fried rice, duck , chicken, ham etc etc. This year's Xmas tree was beautiful, thanks to the efforts made by the Ching Family.

While discussing for Sis wedding, we also played Wii. It was so much fun trying to work with family members to clear the stage... ended up laughing like mad. Gift exchange was fun too this year. With Zhen, Darren, Jingjie and Bryan taking turns to distribute the gifts. I think the children especially Claire enjoyed it the most!

It has been a great 2008 and it is in this season when we remember to thank one another for all the love, care and concern given. So Thanks everybody for everything! Looking forward to the new year, though it may be tough one ahead but I believe we will all make it through somehow or another! To the children... continue to study hard... to the youngsters... continue to work hard....to the "not-so-old" people... continue to be in good health! Merry Xmas & May the joyous spirit be with one and all! Ho Ho Ho!

Xmas Party at Sharon's Place

Sharon invited us to her home for xmas party on Sat. She was so ethu to even prepare door gifts - Xmas hats for us. Everbody just wore the hats for the photo shoot but dun think anyone brought it home. Haha! It was a pot-luck, so eveybody brought food there.... all over-estimated and over-bought, in the end soo much food left over! Luckily some of the boys tabao home. Really had a lot of fun catching up the hall frens. We had a laughter-filled gift exchange too... though did not get the lamp/clock that looks cute... but still have a paper clip holder that is quite cute too... not bad la!

Day 5, we went to Sunway Lagoon to experience some sun, water and FUN! The entry tickets cost quite a lot - RM60 per person for 2 theme parks. We chose the Water Park and the Adventure park. Had quite a lot of fun there as there are quite a number of interesting rides... Miao thinks that the rides are Ok... but they are pretty scary for me already. I am glad that I had gained enough courage to take some of the rides! Hehe!! It will be a great place for the children to have fun and play a whole day... can consider going there when you are in KL!

Continue from last entry... Day 3 and Day 4 we decided to set it aside for shopping as it was the weekend. In Day 3 we took the train to Bukit Bintang which is like Orchard Road in Singapore. There are many malls there for people to shop. Sungei Wang is not too high-end... so many people were there shopping for clothes.. JJ was also there to promote his album haha! We also walked to Pavilion and the shops there are more high-class, with more famous brand names. We were there for Mdm Kwan's nasi lemak which was indeed delicious... we also had a long lost dessert in Spore - A&W root beer icecream float.

In Day 4, we continued shopping in Mid-Valley Megamall. Mid-Valley Megamall is really huge, with many many shops. There are FOS and Jusco there which are having sale now... so I ended up bought quite a bit of things. Went to KLCC to see the Twin towers. They are really beautiful under the lights... look at the pictures we took... super cool like in space haha!

Went to KL from 11 Dec to 16 Dec... so many days at the city... nothing much to do except shopping eating and more shopping... 1st day we were at Bejaya Time Square as the bus stopped there for us to alight. Super jam when we reached there... cos off work timing. 2nd day we went up to Genting to take a look at the casino and at night we shopped ard our Hotel near Tan Chek Lok Street where all the imitation branded bags and clothes were sold... Sat went to watch Bolt at Marina GV... Nice show... Bolt is so cute! So is the lunatic Hamster who is a true blue TV-fan! Was walking around, tot the decorations at Marina is nice... so took a few photos of it. Sesame Street was there putting up a show for the children. Love Ernie.. so took some photos of the characters like Elmo, Bert and Cookie Monster.

On Sun, Dad participated in the Full Marathon, so went down to City Hall to support him. Managed to see him finish the race. Soo many people there... so enthu! Running is really not my forte... support ppl okie... but go there to run... impossible! Then went over to Chinatown to help sis get all the wedding stuff. Quite ex but I guess it provided a one-stop place to buy those essential stuff... especially for new couples who don't know anything about traditions.

Chalet cum BBQ -- Laughter and Fun!

Chalet was at Aloha Loyang... 2nd time there... but still quite lost... haha luckily got taxi uncle! Was there at about 4 plus then when the rest came at 5 plus we started the BBQ. After the fire was ready, it started to drizzle. So you see first time I BBQ with umbrellas... haha! End up we all cannot take it cos it became sooo hot and smoky! Argh! Luckily the rain was only a drizzle and it cleared up soon.

Food was ample and delicious.. the company was fantastic too. Just like Helen mother said, not too many people... the size jus nice! There was a surprise for Ber, Gayu and Ivan... Ber and Gayu cos they are leaving NSPS already... as for Ivan it's his birthday! Bought watches for the ladies... then shirts for Ivan. Not really his type of shirt but must wear hor Ivan! A laughter-filled night just to tok cork. Never a moment of silence. Even when the flying cockroach came... everybody was screaming and fleeting haha! I once heard: The best thing in NSPS are the colleagues. After knowing them, I truly believe what was said! Way to go friends!

No mood for Xmas Shopping

Was walking around aimlessly on Sat... nothing to do... no movie to watch. Went to Suntec with Miao then went over to Bugis when my also equally bored sis came to join us. Many people were already shopping for Christmas but somehow I still don't have any mood to buy anything. Not sure why, but I guess it's might be because the bonus this year is no good... haiz... 0.5 mth only leh... sad sad! Anyway, had whipped out my camera and took some photos of the deco at Suntec and Bugis, then had dinner at Soup Spoon, which was delicious and really filling. Drove over to Expo, wanted to go to Sintex but there were sooo many people... decide to go over on Sunday instead after Imran's wedding...

Sunday came. Went to Imran's wedding at 1230pm. Managed to see him before he went to fetch his bride... then went to Expo to look for Wii. Package was okie but after adding in another controller and 2 games (that's what they are selling) it was not cheap... so did not get one. Went over to John Little's sale... many people there too... the queue for payment was horrible. By the time we left Expo it was already 8 plus. This time good buy are laptops... I saw some going for at least $200 - $300 below market rate. Many people were leaving Expo with boxes and boxes of equipments... woooah! looks like they are free haha! Have spent this year's LDS so not going spend anymore...

Dept Lunch at Pow Xi

It's the end of the year already. Mrs Choo treated us to lunch at Pow Xi yesterday. All were present except for Mrs Tan, Dan Dan and Mr Leow. It was also like a farewell lunch for Xi Hua who is transferring to Pei Tong as she moves to Clemanti now... will really miss her cos she is such a serious and dedicated teacher. Lunch was sumptous, company was good too, cos we all did not have the time to meet and have lunch during the year. Chinese Teachers some floating some morning... cannot even meet during normal school days. Next year will be Tiong Bee's turn to treat with his Connect Plan money haha! Write this down first so that we will not forget and make sure we all remind him next year. Holidays now... rest now and then prepare ourselves for 2009~ Yeh! We Got Outstanding Contribution Award

Today the school distributed the "Outstanding Contribution Award" to the individuals and teams that had done well this year. Was sooo happy that Rosalind and Uncle Lee got the Individual awards, especially Uncle Lee who has helped me sooo much this year. I heard that my letter commending him earlier this year had helped him when they choose between the nominees. I am so glad I have written that letter! Our AR Team also got the team award. I am happy that we managed to get the GOLD award yesterday and our school also recognises the hard wrok we put in. It is a good year... thou it is a tough 2008 too. Happy to have gone through it and will be resting now to gear myself for the coming 2009... which I think will be a year for me to work harder! GAMBETTE!

NIQC WITs - We Got Gold!

Was sooooo worried about this presentation for many days as we found out some errors and inconsistency in the target set reflected in our report submitted earlier. Was also very worried that the judges will spot it and questioned us about it.... luckily they did not and focused their questions on our ICT project itsef, which I am very confident and clear in. I am happy that we achieved the GOLD award and it really made the hard work worthwhile! Good work guys... hehe we did it... somehow! *grinz*

Jia's Acapella Concert, Vivocity Deco and Steamboat Opp Paradize Centre

Thursday night went to Republic Poly to support Jia's accapella concert... it was really interesting, colourful and they are so young and happening! Great concert, superb voices, colourful outfits and fantastic mood! Well done Jia! It is a successful concert!

Friday night went to VivoCity with Miao, took more photos of the Xmas trees in Vivocity... there was one gigantic outside! I think it is really beautiful!

Sat had nothing to do so went to Douby Gaut to walk around with Miao and my sis... was feeling very hungry at 5pm so decided to venture across Paradize Centre to find food! It was a dark and gloomy evening (going to rain you see), so decided to eat steamboat. We found a shop beside the Hark but they have not started business yet.. so we went in to wait for them to prepare. Though the service was a little slow... but I think the soup base provided is really good! Each person had to pay $15.80 nett... i think it is reasonable as the Bugis one where we always go cost $15 already and it is not air-conditioned.... not a bad place to introduce!

We then walked around at Plaze Sing... bought a pair of shoes for $15.90 cos there was a sale there. Took some photos of the deco there... i love the angels.... then took some more boliao photos in front of a tree outside Plaza Sing... haha! Miao is so funny!

Musical is Over!

It is such a long day today. I am in school by 11am to makeup for the girls. Bee Lin is in the hospital, so luckily there is Mrs Simon there throughout the whole thing. She did up the girls' hair beautifully and I did their make-up. Met with a little incident during the make-up session but it was resolved, so GREAT!

Then we had a scare when we reached Suntec! We had left one stalk of red flower behind in school, so Delcy only had one pink stalk in her hands. Luckily Rosalind was still in school, so had to trouble her to bring the flowers over. Luckily we made it on time! Thanks Ros!

The whole musical went smoothly... glad that the girls were happy and their parents all brought them home safely. Some parents were proud of their children, grinning from ear to ear. That's wonderful! It is really a tiring process. We had practised so long just for that short 5 mins on stage. Really 台上一分钟，台下十年功～ Just glad that it is over! REST DAY tomorrow! YEH!

Orchard Xmas Deco 08

Went to Orchard yesterday and realised that Orchard is decorated for the upcoming Chirstmas. Also last night was the night when President Nathan declare the decoration lights on, so there were many people there jus to catch a glimpse of the whole event. This year's theme is mainly on "Sweets and Candies". There is a family who loves to eat candy and the message behind all that colourful decorations is to have the sweetest Xmas ever!

Was walking around and snapping photos of Xmas trees which in my opinion the best decoration that you can ever have during this festive season. It's beautiful, colourful, meaninfful and the most traditional decorations that you can have.

Went to Lido thinking of watching movie... but there are no nice shows to watch... then we saw "Bolt" movie advertisment and it was really cute... will be waiting for it to come up and I think we will go catch that movie...

Well, this year's Xmas is one where many faces financial problems... I guess not many people will spend money getting too ex gifts but I think it is still important to celebrate it with friends and family... just a time to catch up and have fun! Looking forward to Christmas!

Kids nowadays are so Complicated

Tot I am considered a young teacher... tot I understood the kids better... but I guess I am so very WRONG! My colleague-friend was telling me about some of our P5 pupils blogging. Was interested so went into their blogs to see. I was shocked by seemingly mature tots going through their little minds (sometimes still quite childish though) But you see, they are just 11 year olds...and they are supposed to be childish right? Nooo... At 11 years old, they are attached to each other and are even calling each other names that I dare not use on my own bf after 6 years of relationship... Woooah I must say this at this point "真是有勇气！佩服！佩服!"

I am wondering what I am doing when I was 11 years old. I remembered there were some discussion about some supposingly "handsome" guys in class/school, but it was never so open. At most just some giggling amongst our girl friends when we see them... but now children are writing everything on the blog... which maybe isn't their fault... as they are thinking blog is their diary...why can't they write anything they want? But have they really forgotten that we can read the blog? Would they want us to know their secrets? Or maybe they do want this kind of publicity? Who really knows what they think? It's complicated... They are complicated... trust me...

Went to Tao Nan yesterday to support my mom. It's her yearly children's concert again. This year as the intake was smaller, there were fewer programmes. In the end the concert ended rather early and the GOH, SM Goh had time to linger around in the hall. Many people gathered around to shake hands and take photos with him. My dad being his fan really wanted to do so as well, so I helped him by asking SM Goh. He was very friendly and he took photos with us... really exciting haha! Like a fan taking photos with his idol.... I have proof... look at the pics *grin*

Spongebox Square Pants & Uni Gathering

Was just loading my camera photos then I realised that I have one photo which I took last week at Bishan Loft when we were all there to choose my sis's wedding songs... Took a photo with Zhen's Spongebox Square Pants... you know its made of my favourite material... same material as my Cold Eyes and Pow Er... Super CUTE!

Went to Lay Ann's house yesterday for a uni gathering... they are my 1st year tutorial frens... so nice to meet them since the last time we met at Giraff. They have all changed their jobs... but all still in the financial sector... I guess I am the only one that left for teaching... haha!

Anyway Lay Ann's house is in Bukit Panjang... 18th storey... It's a good buy for only $400k. The house is pink... so sweet! We chatted... played games brought by Tina and Lawerance... then had KFC and pizza... really nice to catch up with all of them! We even looked at Lay Ann and Yilin's wedding photos which were taken in JB.... really beautiful! Tina was so tempted to go there to get her gown... Lay Ann will hold his wedding on May next year... Tina and Lawerance will hold their ROM on 28 Dec this year... All settling down soon... Wishing all of them blissful marriage!

My Reflection and Interpretation on "The Five Love Languages"

Well, it is interesting to note that these are essentially the 5 simple things that you have to do to keep a relationship going. Not just boy-girl relationship but also applies to relationship between colleagues, teacher-pupil relationship too.

Have been reflecting.... I think I have used at least 4 of the "Love Languages" with my pupils haha! The first one: Words of Affirmation. Well, I have tried to ORAISE my pupils... instead of always scolding them... telling them that they can make it if they try and some do respond better... I guess some still needed these kind of encouragement the most.

The second one: Quality Time. With only 1 hour with them a day... I think ALL the time I spent with them is Quality Time... you see, there is NO time to waste, my undivided attention spreading to all 28/35/24 pupils, depending on my class size... the thing is there is LITTLE TIME TO WASTE, of cos quality time!

The third one: Recieving Gifts. I take it that this means "bribery". Children being children loves gifts. I am all for this mode of encouragement - giving them little gifts to commend on their good work done throughout the term. I guess all human needs some sort of extrinstic rewards... it just makes everything measureable and more meaningful. I am an adult, so I go for the intrinstic rewards. I guess if they have made improvement, that would be the best gift ever!

The fourth one: Acts of Service. Not sure if you have heard of this. "Students are our customers. " They are the ones that recieved the full impact of our service (teachers)... we need to make sure they like our service. Many times, it's out of kindness, though part of it is obligation as it my job, but I SINCERELY teach without expecting anything in return... the only return is for THEM to have good results. It is all about our pupils....

Well, the fifth one: Physical Touch. I guess this cannot be exercised on my pupils. We CANNOT touch them, though a simple pat on the back or a handshake to congratulate the wining group should be acceptable.

All these play a part in a relationship. I have reflected and I'm glad I have at least tried them daily.... It is simple but have you done it? Why not take some time to reflect?

Long Sat...Shopping for Sis Wedding and SB8 BBQ

Started with lunch at Sakae Sushi at Wellock's place with Aunt Kim, Aunt Lili, Aunt Pauline, Jia, Zhen and Dawn.... the aunties really excited about my sis's wedding... so much suggestions and ideas... not bad! Then Dawn went back to work (tough job) then we all went shopping for my sis's shoes and accessories... Walked from Tangs to Wisma to Taka... wooah.. I think I am not the shopping type... end up had toe cramp...

Then met Gwen to take a bus to Jon's house for our JC gathering... we were supposed to have a BBQ session there at 6pm. End up only Nic, Gerard, Min, Din, Derek and us there early... Jon, Chinli and Eunice came slightly later...The rest (Zhirong, Mingli and partner, Van and partner, Weiquan and partner, Wilfred, Janus, Jinrong) were pretty late but the turn-out was great!! The food was good... esp the mushrooms and it was nice catching up and finding everybody doing so well... Left the place early cos wanted to catch movie with Miao... not sure if Liangwei they all came... and Elsie even... but I am happy to see them all look the same except now all working hard...

Now in a very very hazy FOG... my whole head full of numbers... and terms like t-test, standard deviation, mean, significant value... argh! All that statistics terms! Kill me! Doing a report on our findings for our AR report... end up suffering here, trying to make sense out of the numbers... Trying to find reasons for the results as well.... HOW!??!! How to explain??!! Improve means improve.... wat's improve with no significance??? Tat I don't understand... anybody out there can help? I really need it....

Babies Overdose! Soooo many Babies...

Went to Baoqin' baby 1st mth celebrations.... it is the first time I see sooo many babies in a flat... Her friends all have babies and they all brought their babies along for the celebrations. I was glad to see the mother and daughter so healthy... caused Baoqin had a hard time with this baby... risk of pre-mature delivery made her stay at home since May... Luckily the baby was smart to remain in the tummy and only come out in Sept!

Tiong Bee also brought his wife and 6 month old boy along... He is cute la! Same face shape as his dad, has his dad's eyes too but I think the rest of the features look like his mom... Will grow up to be a HANDSOME boy haha! A Sunday afternoon full of babies... if there is such thing as a baby overdose... I think I had one!

As I always gave stationery to my pupils during the term as encouragement, I tot I would give them food as Children's Day gifts. So I bought many stuff... from sweets to chocolate biscuits and packed them into cute little party plastic bags for them... then came the shocking and scary news of China's poisonous milk and products... Did a check and was relieved to find that all goodies were MADE IN MALAYSIA Heng ah! Anyway, I almost bought "White Rabbit" sweets as the children really love them... luckily I did not... Now the list of food involved is getting longer and longer and longer... from famous ice-creams...like mini Cornetto poppers... to chocolates.

Wondering if those businessmen have any conscience, tried "ALL" ways to make money! It is such a dangerous and evil thing to do!! Din it cross their mind that babies and children drink milk almost daily and they are our future? If they are to die, who's going buy milk from them???? Shallow and profit-minder businessmen... Hope they get their deserved punishment.... if not it is really unfortunate for the affected babies and their families!

Was watching the news and all the headlines were about the critical financial situation in US. With all the bankrupt investment banks and insurance companies (even the huge AIG company) think the financial doom day is nearing.... Had some investments on equities and was warned by my advisor that things are looking bad... she was asking if I wanna "HOLD" or "SELL".... Sisters Outing at Hyatt

We decided to be Tai Tais this time. We always meet for dinner or lunch but this time we decided to go for High Tea. Sijie suggested Hyatt Scotts Lounge... so we all went there. The food is not bad... all the sweet stuff like fondue.... scones... crepes... brownie... tarts... cheesecake... if you like all these desserts, this is the place for you.... There is also a variety of tea... from shanghai rose... to some peppermint tea... not bad if you like to try all the different types of tea :) The ambience there is also very good... we had a nice cosy corner where we can talk freely and enjoy the food there. Everybody is well... that's good news. Everybody is busy with work... so I guess the next time we meet will be Christmas. Peiling offered to open up her house for celebrations... so we will be looking forward to for the next outing! :)

Singapore Flyer, Here we Come!

Missed the chance to go to the Singapore Flyer in August... luckily there is another chance for teachers to celebrate Teachers' Day... Free complimentary for teachers. We can also bring 4 ppl at 25% off for the tickets. My sis not interested, so poor Miao (who already went on the Flyer 4 times alr, with his client) went with me again. We went early at 4pm... to avoid the crowd. Though not able to catch the night view, but it was still nice for the day view. Took many many pictures.... seriously looked like true tourists. Hahaha... it was okie... cos there were another Malay couple like us...taking soo many photos... since up there might as well right? Enjoy the photos :)

We also bought the photo that the Flyer took for us... Miao's T-shirt was the same colour as the background... so when they super-impose our figures into the cabin... Miao's body is transparent... soooo funny! Anyway they let us retake.. lending Miao a jacket to retake... and Miao using the credit card... got the photos 1 for 1 free... just a momento la.. since I dun think we will go up to the Flyer again.... A great visit... great for a once-on-a-lifetime outing hahah!

Surprised 26th Birthday Party for the Twins

Miao and Family have been planning for our twin's birthday party since 2 weeks back. It was supposed to be a secret... but knowing my family that shares everything under the sun... it was really a tough job for Miao to keep it as a secret. Anyway, it was supposed to be a small gathering just the youngsters but end up the whole family was involved... haha the whole story was really amusing....

It all started out as Miao supposed to fetch me at 3 plus and we would go to ECP for blading... but he was very late (he insisted that his parents used the car... so we have to wait for the car to come back before we can leave). When he finally came at 540pm... he said that the weather forecast said that ECP was raining... so we would go to Pasir Ris Park instead. All went well until I was in the carpark where I met Darren... Was shocked to see him there... but all fell into place when he asked me where is the BBQ pit.... Hahah!! It was really a joke.... so you see...the surprise was a BBQ party with all my family members.... The plan was for us to blade pass them and then SURPRISE! Haha but too bad at the very last moment the whole secret gave way! HAHAHAH!

Well, we had a great time BBQing... Thanks Aunt Lili and Aunt Kim for all the preparations of the food... Thanks Hanjie for the cake and Thanks ALL the cousins for the "SURPRISE PRESENT" Woooah!! It was really a fantastic present... take a look at the photo later.... EFFORT MAN! It was a very nice surprise... soo happy to have all the family members there to celebrate together... luckily the weather was kind too... the rain stopped just in time... Thanks to Miao for planning it... He took leave to prepare all the stuff leh.... GREAT JOB! :)

Teacher's Day Dinner 08 - Livelyhood

We had our Teacher's Day dinner at Bliz Restaurant in Expo this year. It was a busy busy day in school where there was a mad rush of lessons, collection of gifts from children and performance for the teachers. For the past few days I was very very busy with the lucky draw gifts... wrapping them, labelling them and then finally loading them to be sent over to Expo for the dinner... Tough job man!

We were all dressed for the occasion in different occupation... See the photos then you will see the creativity of all our colleagues haha! There were many many doctors - some surgeon, gynae etc etc, we have Oscar Best Actress... CSI Agent.... Farmer... Pilot... Hairdresser... even Ballerina... Anyway the highlight of the night was the grand entrance by the Staff Welfare staff ( i.e. us) by serving the first dish to our colleagues. You know we were quite "Porfessional". We borrowed the vest from the restaurant and then even follow the whole sequence of having the music and lights off etc... it was super funny and all the colleagues were amused by us. Raf and Yanhan also came back to help us with the MCing... Luckily they were there... Yanhan really livened the whole night with his lame but funny jokes...

Played the Angel and Mortal Game...My angels were Uncle Lee and Mrs Thenna... Really loved their gifts... nice food and cute stuff... will keep it in school for all to see... Wishing all the teachers in the world a Happy Happy Teachers' Day!

Backdate to ET's Farewell

Can't really remember the day we did the farewell for Eileen. But it should be before 10 Aug, sometime in Jul. Anyway her "gang" of frens organised the farewell for her and called many colleagues to the party at Civil Service Club in Changi. We had a fun BBQ... poem recital for her... cake cutting session for Xuanyin (cos its her bday)... and many many photo taking sessions with ET before she leaves for Hong Kong International School. She will be there for 3 year and we are all going to miss her... Wishing her all the best there! Remember to keep in touch....

A Weekend of Family Bonding

Luo is back from China Shanghai... he went there for internship at Uncle Mia Kuang's office... Decided to go for KTV finally (it was pushed back since Jul, if I dun remember wrongly). Wanted to go to this Chinatown $10 Family KTV... but it was totally full house... so we made do for Partyworld just across the road.

We had a good time laughing at Luo who had similar singing techniques as Zai Zai (that F4 guy) haha! They really sounded the same... seriously, with pitch there but not really there... if you noe what I mean... Had a fantastic time singing Gu Ju Ji's very very long medley of songs which was really quite difficult to sing as there is no warning when the new song starts...

Went to Yijia's place later that night to support Team Singapore's Table Tennis girls in trying to get the GOLD medal for Singapore. They fell under the strong China team... but I guess they had done their best and deserves our cheers. The Chiang, Loh and Png family also gave CK a surprise by getting a cake for him... it was Mango cake... not a favourite among the kids... end up the adults took double share... fattening man!

A day with the family... Had a great time together... Always treasure our great family ties... Luo leaving for US again this Friday. Wishing Luo all the best in New York this time... have fun doing Masters... and yah... come home soon! :)

Miao's 28th Birthday Presents - Effort Man!

It was Miao's birthday tomorrow. But we both decided to celebrate it yesterday. The surprise for him was the Gundam that I bought for him. But this time different. I even build the Gundam for him... not bad for a beginner cos I finished it (with my sis help) in 2 days. Pls take a look at the pictures... You will be impressed haha! *ok I am abit proud... fine!*

Of cos it was not very well-done cos he told me last night that he had finished "repairing" the Gundam... some sides up-side down. Haha! Fine! I am not very good at this kind of things... have problem visualising the sides... Anyway, I am glad he loves it and it is up on the shelf with the rest of his collections.

Also got him an orange polo tee... he was overwhelmed by the colour, saying that it will be a perfect shirt to be kept till Chinese New Year to be worn... haiz!

Well, we had dinner at Raffles City Shukoda (eh... not sure if this is the correct spelling) Its a Jap Mache-like restaurant.... not bad the food! It was a simple celebration but I guess it's the thought that counts... Happy 28th Birthday Miao! (You are old man already! Wahahah~)

Little Breaks in the month of August

August came and it is now almost the middle of the month. In the beginning of the month we celebrated National Day. It was a Friday, we had half day so went out with a bunch of colleagues for Taiwan porridge, pool, bowling and special food at Mrs Chow's place. So great to have some time to mingle with those friends in school. We hardly had time in school... It was holiday in lieu on Monday. Did nothing except to relax at home and get ready for the new week.

The following week was short too. Only had 2 days of school. Hurriedly went through the important things in the syllabus, returned all the books to my children for CA2 revision... then came the 2 days holiday for PSLE oral. Not a holiday for me as I have to go out of school to test the children from other school. It was a great experience. Getting to know other schools' teachers and their pupils. I was worried about the complicated procedures to look out for but glad that all went well. Worked half day for both days. Had a little break and spent some time to make something for Miao... His bday coming.... surprise surpise!!

Our 6th Anniversary - 18 Jul 08

Woooah!! Time really flies. Din really have time to update this blog.... have been soo busy the whole month, with soo many important ppl coming to our school... so many school events to plan...

Well 18 Jul came and went. It was our Anniversary... 6 long years together man! Miao said he wanna buy me a stone... but he couldn't "afford" it (so he says) haha so bought me a "stone flake" necklace... stone a little small la... but the design is really NICE! I did not prepare anything for him but I treated dinner... at this new Jap restaurant in Bugis... it used to be "Sketches". I guess that's equal! Haha!

Seriously, I dun really care about stone, stone flake or anything... It's important we both rem the day... spend time togther... and simply remember the happy times together... I guess that's the best memories we have togther!! Hope there will be many many 6 years ahead! Muack Miao!

China Immersion June 2008

Back date to June where we went to China on an immersion trip from 6 June to 12 June. Managed to sort out the photos recently. We touched down at Nanjing where we stayed for 2 days. At Nanjing we visited the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall. It was really an insight on what happened during the WWII. We also visited other places Confucius Temple and the Yangtze River Bridge. We then went to Suzhou where we visited Jingwen Primary (the school that we signed the MOM with) It was under renovation but we can see that the pupils there are really intelligent and the teachers really welcomed us. Over there, we did some sightseeing too. As it is a place full of rivers and lake, there are many old water towns such as Luzhi Town and beautiful gardens like Nets Garden. They are really scenic and I am impressed by the detailed architectual buildings and furniture. We went over to Shanghai too. The buildings were tall and the place is congested. Really a busy city! There are so much to see in China, I guess I will be back there one day to find out more and learn more.

NE Show 2008 @ Marina Bay

Last Saturday was an exciting day for the P5 pupils. It's time for NE show 2008! This year it was held in Marina similar to last year. We gathered in school at 130pm, distribute the fun packs and the food before we proceed to the place. The whole performance started at about 545pm and the children were really high. I thought the best part of the performance is the segment by the Red Lions (parachuters) and the Black Knights (the fighter planes) They are soooooo skilled and they really impressed me with their precised performance. Of course the next highlight is the usual - FIREWORKS! It was really beautiful with all the different colours and sparks.

Belated Mother's Day Lunch

Had a belated Mom's Day lunch at San Zhong Liang Jian at Hougang Mall yesterday. Not exactly a very cheap lunch but I guess the chicken is delicious! Think it is more delicious than the Pow Xi chicken. Anyway mom says that she knows how to made the chicken, so next time I hope I get to try it at home! After lunch, we went to Heng Heng to buy the jewellary for my sis for her wedding (known as Si Dian Jing) Well, I got into the mood and also bought a gold bangle for myself haha! Gold is expensive now, but who cares... Treat it as a gift reward to myself after working for sooo hard la!

Lingwei's 21st Birthday

Sat was Lingwei's 21st birthday! It's a big day, hence we must celebrate for her. She wanted to hold her little party at Upper Thomson Miss Clarity Cafe. It's a sweet little place and the food was not bad. Loh was sooo sweet to her sis. He actually ordered a bouquet of flowers and had it delivered to her home! Wow! We tot it was some secret admirer. Haha! Our gift (from Huixian, Zhang and I) was special too. We made it before Zhang went to Shanghai. It was a huge collage of pictures (all with LW in them). Had it kept in the car and then I sprang a surprise on her when we finished singing the Birthday song. LW was touched! Zhen and Jia also made a special CD for her... with all the Lollipop's Xiaoyu photos... it was porrrrfessional! hahah! Just like to wish her a happy birthday gal!

That day was a really busy day. Went to Tiong Bee's baby boy Keven full month celebration, then went down Sujun's Little Part 1 for catch-up. Later on Miao drove us (my sis and I) to Bishan to celebrate Jia's Birthday. Had a delicious dinner Jin Shan Lin. Crab, fish maw soup, veggie, chicken etc etc.... Then we moved on to Partyworld for the birthday cutting ceremony and KTV! Haha! Had quite fun time singing with Xiaoyi and the cousins... So funny especially when Xiaoyi and Zhang sang "无言的结局" hahaa!! sooo funny...

Well Jia is already 17 yrs old... adpating very well in her new poly. I am glad that she is so happy... say cheerful and optimistic... that's the way to go... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Well Well, it came as a shock but it was a pleasant surprise. The P was looking for me all afternoon on 26 Mar and when she managed to get hold of me, she took my hand and congratulated me. I thought it was a complaint from parents in the beginning. Haha! I am promoted as of effect of April 2008. We will be going to attend the ceremony on 23 April. (There are a few of us promoted to the same rank, hehe! Look at the pic)

This is good news! I am happy, very happy in fact, not really because of the monetry increment (which i heard is not alot in the first place) but just glad that my work is recognised by the school. It had been a tough year where I had to learn fast, work fast and think fast and I am just a BT (beginning teacher). Just glad that all went well, with very supportive frens and colleagues ( i owe them alot, seriously!) Thanks pals! I share this with you!

Hall 1 Alumni Dinner Bringing back Good old Days

Either I have memory failure or it was really not worth remembering ( I think most likely it will be the previous)... I seriously cannot remember the last time I went for Hall 1 Alumni Dinner. Miao said we both went to the one just after we graduate. In some Tofu restarant... I did?

Anyway, Weiquan jio-ed for the one this year. It was on last Friday at Balcony - Heeren. Would you expect to pay only $15 for a full dinner set plus a complimentary drink there? Good deal right? Anyway, Miao and I did not think such a deal exist. So when Tongyan says that "there might be finger food" we seriously thought it was real. We ate BK before we went there and was shocked to find out about the dinner arrangement. Hahaha! Was a joke really!

Of course, we were too full for the food, but I managed to squeeze some space to sample the dory fish. It was nice... though slightly salty... The place was not too good for gatherings as i think there is a lack of interaction between the different parties. We only stayed within our group and did not really talk to the rest of the juniors. Maybe because we have left for many years, so we are not too familiar with the current organisers... haiz... old already la!

But I still had an enjoyable time catching up with my friends. Everybody is working hard in their own fields trying to earn a living and of course hopefully make it BIG! It is great just to know that there is a big group of people working alongside with you, even if they are in a different sector.

We had a fun time talking about the good old days in hall where we will not be nagged by our moms. We had the ultimate freedom to decide on what we would like to do that day, be it sports, studies or simply just chatting with out neighbours. The night is ALWAYS young... sleep would not be in everybody's agenda until about 3am daily. Those were the days... Miss them... but will treasure them deep in my mind and heart... NTU Hall 1 regardless of how it changes, it is special to me as I have spend 2 and half great years in the same room BLK 17-3-259... with the same friends... through thick and thin...

March Holidays

After a fast term which flew pass like nobody's business, the March holidays came. Today's already Wednesday, which means the one-week-long holiday is already half-way GONE! Argh! Spent the last few days at home (cos it's raining like cats and dogs here) doing up lesson plan (cos i kena lesson observation on the first day when school reopens.. sianz), sleeping late waking up late and just RELAXED. Term 2 will be another fast term... soon it will be June holidays. YEH! Hope to make full use of the last few days now to catch up with friends and just pump in more blood and energy after the bloodsucking kids in school took them all away in Term 1. I will survive... survive... survive....

CheerLeading Competition - Lost but it's Ok!

After months of practising, the Sports Day was finally here. On Friday we all gathered in school for the cheerleading competition (as we can't play the music at the stadium) that the girls and I had been practising for sooo long. Luckily Eileen, Li Lian and Jumia came to help me out in the morning for the make-up. I think the Green Osprey cheerleaders were really the most beautiful girls that day haha! So bright and cheery with their shining outfit and make-up. We were the first and the girls did their routine with energy and smiles. But there was a slight mistake there... that might have caused them the trophy. Anyway, we did not win the trophy from Blue Hawks (they had retained their title) but I think the girls had a great time, just a little disappointed but i guess that's competition, there will be winner and loser. Anyway, it was really a good experience. I hope the girls will have the same fighting spirit in the future in whatever they are faced with. * No pictures of them as I blur sotong forgot the bring my camera to school*

Chinese New Year 2008

After the buzz of the CNY celebrations in school, the long awaited CNY holidays came. As usual, before the new year started, my sis and I began decorating our home for the festival. There was some sort of a mini decorating competition amongst all the aunts. (they will all be excited to see who decorated the house best, who has the nicest / cheapest decorations etc, haha~) This year we decided to go for the "娃娃” theme. Look at the pictures and you will know what I mean. We even hand-made some of the lantarns at home.

New year would mean new clothes. This year luckily I started shopping early with my aunts, so I do have some new clothes to wear.... Bought a nice yellow top this year. Totally loved it.. dun care if ppl say I look like Tweety Bird.. haha! Decided to go retro for this set. Then there was this red top... decided to go simple for this one, just match with a pair of old grey jeans... Look at how 自恋 my family is, posing at home for photos hahah!

On New Yeat's eve, we had steamboat at my house. We called the Loh family and the Chiang family to join us this year. There were really a lot of food.... alot of Balls....soooo filling!

This year, as usual, for the 1st day we all gathered at Uncle Mia Yong's house to visit Ah Ma. Then we proceeded to Uncle Mia Kuang house for gambling. For the 2nd day, we visited Dad's family then at night we gathered at Aunt Kim's house for dinner. Uncle Ellil made roasted duck and I must say it tasted GREAT! Stayed up till 3 am for mahjiong session that night (haha... it's the first time playing with money... thou slow but it was pretty interesting) 3rd day was at home for the whole day as Dad's relatives came over for dinner... so of course being the host, we had to be at home preparing the food. 4th day we went over to Aunt Karen's home then Aunt Lili's house for new year goodies and gambling. Din really gamble this year but I guess it's alright. You have to really feel lucky "旺旺" to gamble.

Had taken many many photos... They are all great memories... Just happy and comforted to see all my relatives happy and healthy. Wishing all a Prosperous New Year, may it be a year of Wealth, Health and Bliss for all! 祝家人和朋友，鼠年行大运，身体健康，年年有余！恭喜！恭喜! HUAT AH!

January is OVER!

Time really flies.... this is really so apt now. Suddenly the month of January is OVER and we are all welcoming the month of Feburary... this month there is the Chinese Lunar New Year which I am looking forward (because of the goodies and the holidays. YEH!), except this year I have all the compo marking to complete... haiz.... Maybe I will try to clear it before the eve of new year... not sure if I can!

Anyway, 2008 is 1 month down and there are still so many things to do... wooah!! I really don't know where all the time went to... I am a relatively efficient person... so for those who procrastinate... it will definitely feel worse.

Let me make a Lunar New Year resolution.... to be able to relax a little and enjoy the little fun during work... I guess tat's the only way I can survive through the year.... *keeping fingers crosses*

New Phone

I just realised I haven't introduced my new handphone! Haha! Well well, becos the miao got the Mio plan, I got to pay only $49 to get the new Nokia 6500 Classic. I am not very sure if it is the latest model, but it is sleak and nice. Got the bronze colour one, something different from the dull black. Haven't tried the different functions yet... will do so when I have the time.

Cousins Outing - 29 Dec 07

Luo came back again for Xmas so we decided to have a cousins outing to catch up... it was set on Saturday. Soo sad that Hanping and Kun An last minute cannot make it and Zhang (our ever bubbly Zhang) fell ill and had to see a doc... so had to give the outing a miss.

Anyway there were a total of 7 of us ( Luo, Lingwei, Jia, Huixian, Hanjie - new addition, Me and CK) Jia suggested to go to Ichiban for lunch and KTV after that, so we had lunch at AMK Hub's Ichiban and KTV at Serangoon Garden's K Garden ( 老地方). After KTV we were all too full for dinner.. so stood outside the shop and discussed where to go later... there were 4 suggestions in total - (1) bowling (2) fish prawns (3) minds cafe (4) huo guo (steamboat). Because earlier it rained, Lingwei, Huixian and Jia voted for huo guo... so it's HUO GUO!

Drove down to Bugis for Huo Guo... I think Luo missed the food here... he was indulging in the Tom Yam pot and ended up his lips were like sausages... hehe! Anyway, we really ate our fill... Great! It was time to go home... Had lots of fun last night... It would be better if Zhang, Hanping and Kun An can join us.

Well, there will definitely be another time. The next gathering this festive season will be the COUNTDOWN... whose house will it be? Wat are we going to do?? We better start planning, young adults!!!

A Special Gift from Miao

We kind of promised not to get each other presents this year cos we just came back from Taiwan... But he still got a gift for me (well, I din get one for him, as promised) Its really sweet cos its hand-made and I TOTALLY din not expect it. Haha! Really detailed and beautiful... thou I think I have better photos than that... haha! Anyway Thanks miao! I love it! =)

Xmas Party at Bishan Loft 07

This year's family Christmas party was at Bishan Loft. Xiaoyi managed to book the much-sought after function room, so we had a nice place to eat and relax... We had lots of food - Spagetti, Bee Hoon, Fried Rice, Potato Salad, Sweet and Sour Pork, Otah, Fishballs, Baked Chicken Wings, Turkey, Snacks, Chocolates, Water Melon (just to name a few)

We also have lots of photos to share... cos this Dec many of us went for holiday - Ching Tamps and Loh to Japan. My parents to China Beijing. My sis to HK and me to Taiwan.

After dinner it's time for games. We played musical chairs in the function room and it was really FUN! Then we have photo taking session. This year the dress code is "Wear either RED or GREEN". It's just great that most of us did follow the instructions. So we took a photo for the RED people and then another one for the GREEN people....haha!! So cute.

We then had more fun upstairs. We played some other funny games that Uncle Mia Yong tot of and the traditional Blanket Game. They were really very comical. Seriously everybody was panting and laughing after the games. Then its time for PRESENTS!!! This year the presents looked very inviting.... alot of effort was put in wrapping the gifts. We had the honour of 4 presenters this year - Zhen, Darren, Byan and JJ.... So at least the rest of us could relax and wait for our names to be called to collect the presents. The gifts were great! I really loved all the presents... A BIG THANKS to all!!

Soon Christmas was here, the countdown started.... MERRY CHRISTMAS~~~ Yr 2007 is almost over already... now we awaits a GREAT 2008 to come!!

Early Xmas Dinner with Cedar Sisters

Can you believe it? From 17 Dec to 31 Dec, all the 8 of us will be sooo busy that we are only available on 17th to meet up. Haha! Somehow one of us will be busy on each day. So to ensure that everybody can make it, this year's Xmas celebration and gift exchange was done on 17th... early better than nv meet mah!

We had dinner at Waruku Pasta at Marina. As usual, Xin and Minyann were late... considering it was a working Monday, they were pardoned... Hehe! Then we moved on to Chocs for dessert and to carry out the gift exchange. Throughout the whole night, we were teasing Peiling on her weight-loss programme (you see, she is hoping to lose some weight before her wedding photo shoot next year Mar) but the whole night of pasta plus overwhelming flow of chocolate dessert. You think she will make it? haha! She will la.. with all the gym going on.. all the best la!
